Classification and development trend of forging

Forging is a processing method that uses forging machinery to exert pressure on metal billets to produce plastic deformation to obtain forging parts with certain mechanical properties, shape and size. It is one of the two components of forging (forging and stamping). Through forging, the defects such as loose casting state produced in the smelting process of metal can be eliminated, and the microstructure structure can be optimized. At the same time, the mechanical properties of forgings are generally better than those of castings of the same material because the complete metal streamline is preserved. In the machinery of high load, severe working conditions of important parts, in addition to the shape of the simple can be rolled sheet, profile or welding parts, more forgings.

First, according to the forging tools and die placement of different classification

Forging can be divided into the following categories according to different tools and die placement:

1, free forging using certain tools and equipment, the use of impact or pressure to make the metal in the upper and lower two iron (anvil block) free flow to the four sides, deformation to obtain the required forgings. There are mainly manual forging and mechanical forging two.

It is characterized by flexible technology, low machining accuracy and low cost, and is suitable for single piece and small batch production.

2. Tire die forging is first formed by free forging, and then supplemented by tire die to improve the accuracy of blank shape.

Its characteristics: flexible process, high machining precision, suitable for small and medium batch production.

3. Die forging Die forging is divided into open die forging and closed die forging. The heated metal blank is put into a forging die chamber with a certain shape, and the forging is formed by closing the die.

Its characteristics: single product, high processing precision, simple operation, high production efficiency, suitable for mass production.

Two, according to forging deformation temperature classification

1. Hot forging forging process in which the final forging temperature is higher than the recrystallization temperature, and the workpiece temperature is higher than the die temperature.

2, isothermal forging die with heating and heat preservation device, forging at constant temperature.

3. Cold forging refers to forging at room temperature or below the recrystallization temperature of the workpiece.

4. Warm forging is between hot forging and cold forging.

Three, die forging according to the classification of movement

1. The characteristic of ordinary die forging is that the die reciprocates in a straight line with respect to the blank.

2. The forging blank moves in a straight line, and the two forging die moves in a rotating direction. The rotation axis is perpendicular to the direction of blank movement.

3, the transverse rolling spoke axis is parallel to each other, the rotation direction is the same, the rotation axis of the rolling parts is parallel to the rotation axis of the rolling spoke, but the rotation direction is opposite.

4. The axis of the diagonal rolling mill is crossed into a small Angle, and its rotation direction is the same. The rolled piece moves in the opposite direction to the rotation direction of the rolled spoke on the two series crossing center lines.

5. In addition to rotation, the rotary roll head also makes revolution, the workpiece does not rotate, but there is axial feed movement.

6. Several hammerheads are symmetrically distributed around the radial forging billet, which are fed along the radial direction of the billet. High frequency synchronous forging is performed and the billet is usually fed while rotating.
